Become a studio holder

The Auxiliary is an artist-led, National Portfolio Organisation based in Middlesbrough, emphasising artistic development, large scale exhibitions, cultural development strategies and community participation. As an organisation we are active across Middlesbrough and Teesside, and our home is a 14,000 square foot warehouse just a stones throw away from Middlesbrough Railway Station.

For those who have been following the warehouse updates, we closed our studios back in May 2023 for the capital development to begin. The project has been led by Middlesbrough Council, with funding from Middlesbrough Development Corporation, DCMS's Cultural Development Fund, and Tees Valley Combined Authority.

There’s been many bumps in the road but there’s light at the end of the tunnel and we are almost ready to welcome you back.

Join us on Saturday, August 8th between 11:00am and 2:00pm for our Open Studios. Enjoy a tour of The Auxiliary and sign up for your space. Studios are available on a first-come, first-served basis with a rolling contract. To secure your studio, you’ll need ID, a reference contact and £100 deposit.
