Capital Update: Hardhats Imminent

I've walked around this building countless times. I know every crack, flaking bit of paint, dodgy floor board or temperamental plug socket and I’ve imagined so many possibilities with what could happen with the space. The experience of walking around with an architect in tow was quite something else though, the ideas, possibilities and potential of new and exciting spaces quickly become a reality and and a very tangible future.

Thanks to funding from DCMS Cultural Development Fund, The Auxiliary Project Space will undergo an expansive refurb project from May23 - Jan 24. In the real world this equates to insulating and heating across the building. Our current baseline is pretty low so it will be quite the improvement!!

Our gallery will become a little smaller, but this allows for a mezzanine to be built above the current warehouse studios, adding essential studio space as well as accessible studios.

The entrance will move, we'll get a new cladding system on the exterior and the downstairs bar/office will get gutted and become a large multi purpose space - imaging gigs, workshops, yoga, talks and everything else in between.

Like all projects, plans are moving, changing and what we end up with could still look a little different than the current vision. One thing's for sure though, The Auxiliary Project Space is going to be the home of Teesside creativity.
