In the studio with John James Perangie creating new work ahead of their solo show REFASHION open now at Pineapple Black Art Gallery in Middlesbrough, showing until 29th April.

‘Refashion is a solo show by John James Perangie a multidisciplinary Queer Artist mainly working in painting, sculpture and textiles. They investigate the changing and alteration of objects and make work based on visuals and pop culture they have seen around them in current day and from their past. They also investigate the idea of styling and Queering an object/canvas or selected material, their work currently looks at Finding the Fabric in the everyday and the refashioning of existing materials to give a new narrative. This show contains new paintings titled ‘Refashions’ and selected print work as well as improvised garment sculptures.

As-well as showcasing the exhibition, the preview night will be the the launch of Happy Birthday a Curatorial fashion project founded by JJ & AN this will consist of a live runway show that will be held in the upstairs gallery during the preview of REFASHION.’
